Job Opportunities

One can be an officer in one of three branches of the Air force. Postgraduates can only work with Ground duty or administrative branch. Flying branch includes the fighter pilots who fly the planes with missiles and ammunition while the war in progress. Transport pilots fly the plane and transport the men and material where needed. Helicopter pilots help the moving military and also used for paradropping men and material. The technical branch includes engineers who are responsible for weapons and equipment of the air force. The ground duty branch includes all departments like accounts, administration, logistics and meteorology. Starting package for the officer in all the branch is around 8 t0 9 lakhs rupees per annum with all the basic amenities.


Only physically fit candidates are welcome in the Air force. Irrespective of the branch one must fulfil the basic fitness test. One must be free of mental and health illness or any disabilities.


10+2 pass out candidates with physics or mathematics have to appear for the NDA exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission. Once selected all the candidates must go through the rigorous training at national defence academy. Graduates can take combined defence service exam, national cadet corps special entry or university direct entry to become an officer in the Air Force. Postgraduate candidates with an aggregate of 50% in all the subjects can get into Administration branch of the Air force.

The Indian air force gives you the adventurous life and challenging career and simultaneously takes care of your needs including accommodation, health care and education of your children. In air force, you get a chance to grow continuously. But the main cons are a great responsibility, hard work and the fact that you are risking your life.
