Job Opportunities

Biotechnologists are the ones who separate the genetic codes of the living organism and modify them to the advantage of mankind. Work options in the biotechnology industry are manufacturing and production, marketing, research and development, regulatory and quality assurance. Work industries may include pharmaceuticals, chemical, environmental control, waste management, agriculture, food processing, and bioprocessing industries. Specialized areas include Agriculture Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology, Waste management, Biochemical engineering, and bioprocessing technology.


Scientific and mathematical analytical skills, logical reasoning, dedication, ability to work in a team, environmental awareness are the required attributes of the biotechnology field. Other requisites include research ability, to try something new, curiosity, invent, recreational activities.


Students with 10+2 having good score in biology and chemistry can apply for the 4-year engineering in biotechnology course. There is one more 5-year integrated M.E. course is available after 10+2. Graduates in other engineering and sciences are also eligible of pursuing the masters in biotechnology. One may further opt for M.Phil and Ph.D. programs.
