Geology is the earth science which studies about the environment surrounding the earth and minerals which reside inside the earth. Job Opportunities

One can work in engineering and consulting companies, government agencies, mining, and petroleum companies. You can choose to be one among many disciplines like Marine geology, petrology, geohydrology, and seismology. Some of the public sector organizations which offer jobs are Geological survey of India, Central ground water board, BPCL, HPCL, IOC, Oil India Limited, Cairn Energy and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation. Geologists are in much demand in the USA, Russia and Canada. One must have the ability to visualize, scientific skill and physical fitness. He must have the ability to interpret statistical and geographical information and report writing skills.


One must possess the M.Sc. in Geology degree to start his career as a geologist. One can also pursue the Ph.D. too. To get into the bachelor degree one must have passed the 10+2 level with good aggregate marks. One can pursue bachelor and master degree in petroleum geology, structural geology, environmental geology, isotope, volcanology and many more.
